The Niger Basin Authority (NBA)
The NBA is an intergovernmental organisation in West and central Africa, covering 9 countries, aiming to foster co-operation in managing and developing the resources of the basin, including water and hydroelectric resources, environmental protection from the threats of desertification, deforestation and pollution of the basin resources by agriculture, mining and industry.
under this project, NBA, will focus its interventions in achieving shared responsibilities and benefits with local communities, civil society in conserving basin resources, including groundwater, through implementation of a wide range of community-based projects aimed at addressing key issues and challenges threathening basin's resources and community livelihood bases. these interventions will be supported by the required building of capacity to ensure that national policies and institutions are in place towards ecosystem-based management of the Niger River basin.
